Bonus Feature – Snooker on Freeview

Brilliant ratings for this year’s conclusion to the World Snooker Final (over 3.5 million glued to the finale, peaking at over 5 million!).  Great ratings for the sport.  So, if you’re hungry for more – you’ve come to the right place.  What can we expect to see on our screens in the next season?

Free-To-Air:

48 free-to-air days of snooker confirmed!

These events will once again be shown by the BBC:

UK Championship (Nov 29 – Dec 7) (9 days of coverage)

Masters (Jan 11-18) (8 days of coverage)

World Championship (April 18 – May 4) (17 days of coverage)

BBC Wales have not yet confirmed if the Welsh Open will be shown in 2015.

ITV4 will show (for the next five years) the Champion of Champions (Nov 3 – Nov 9) (7 days), and between 16-22 March there’s a new event on ITV4, the ‘Snooker Grand Prix’ which will feature 32 players.

Eurosport:

Eurosport’s Snooker coverage is extensive – almost every major tournament is shown on there.  You don’t have to be a Sky or Virgin subscriber – you can watch via http://www.eurosportplayer.co.uk and if you sign up for a minimum period of 12 months it will cost just £3.99 a month.  The advantage of doing this is that Eurosport’s TV channels don’t always show the snooker live – if there’s Cycling or Motorsport on, this may be on instead with recorded coverage later on.  With the online player, you can see everything live.

World Snooker:

http://www.worldsnooker.livesport.tv/

For £29.99, you get 12 months access to live streaming on the official World Snooker website.  Most qualifying rounds of major tournaments are on here, so if you’re after seeing players outside the top 16 it’s a great opportunity.

Sky Sports:

Sky Sports shows live coverage of the ‘Snooker Shoot Out’ and the ‘World Seniors Championship’

Enjoy!
