Motors TV Monthly Highlights: January 2016
FIA World Rally Championship
Have you ever driven on ice? If so, you’ll know that it isn’t a particularly relaxing experience. However, the daredevils contesting the FIA World Rally Championship don’t appear to be overly bothered about the whole affair, especially since they head off to Monte-Carlo this month for the first round of the highly anticipated 2016 season. The jewel in the series’ crown is also the toughest to crack, as drivers are faced with treacherous mountain passes and the worst that winter can throw at them. Tune in to our daily highlights programmes and witness the iconic Col de Turini come alive with the sound of horsepower!

Have you ever wondered what ex-grand prix winners such as Alain Prost and Olivier Panis get up to in their down time? The gym or snazzy parties spring to mind, but we think you’ll be far more interested in the highly competitive Andros Trophy – France’s elite ice racing championship. As the competitive field consists of nothing but four-wheel-drive hatchbacks with serious attitude, we suspect the phrase ‘wolf in sheep’s clothing’ was created for the machines contesting this championship. Add to that the glorious alpine locales and you have a pretty spectacular series on your hands. Don’t believe us? Watch our coverage of rounds four to six and see for yourself!
- Rd 4, Isola 2000 – Sunday 10 January at 12:10
- Rd 5, Lans en Vercors – Sunday 24 January at 12:10
- Rd 6, Clermont/Super Besse – Sunday 31 January at 15:15
Thanks to this year’s top-drawer Maserati Trofeo season, Italy has never sounded or looked so good. With an excellent grid of snarling V8 GT Trofeo racers and a roster of highly skilled pilots to thrash them, this one-make championship provides all the automotive goodness a bona fide petrolhead could ever ask for. As such, you won’t be surprised to learn that we’ve put together a review show so we can share all the best bits from this season and whet your appetite for the coming year!

Enduropale du Touquet
Some people think that beaches are for barbeques and soaking up the sun. However, if you are French, experiencing winter and from the town of Le Touquet you might prefer to use them as hardcore racetracks, which is the name of the game for the Enduropale du Touquet. This motocross extravaganza with a twist sees riders slip and slide over the town’s enormous sandy dunes, which are specifically crafted to provide a truly spectacular motorcycling challenge. If you thought that your average motocross race was hard, tune in to our live coverage and think again!

Quaduro du Touquet
For those of you who prefer your beach-based hooliganism with four wheels, the ever-thoughtful residents of Le Touquet haven’t left you out of the fun. Indeed, the Quaduro du Touquet provides much the same sort of insane racing only with even more speed and power. Sound too good to miss? You’d be right!
