EUROPEAN FOOTBALL AND AVIVA PREMIERSHIP RUGBY GAMES ON BT SPORT SHOWCASE

Sport fans will be able to watch Real Madrid stars Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale battle it out against Italian giants AS Roma on BT Sport’s Showcase Freeview TV channel this week.

The Spanish side, who have been named European champions ten times, host AS Roma following a 2-0 victory for Zinedine Zidane’s men in the Italian capital in February. Kick off for the second leg of the first knockout stage of the UEFA Champions League will be at 7:45pm on Tuesday 8 March at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium in Madrid.

BT Sport Showcase will also show Gary Neville’s Valencia in the UEFA Europa League as they travel to Northern Spain for the first leg to play Athletic Bilbao in the last 16 of the competition. The match kicks off at 8.05pm on Thursday 10 March, and will see Valencia looking for revenge following a 3-0 defeat in La Liga on Sunday 28 February.

In addition to the football, rugby union fans will also be able to watch a title chasing clash between Northampton Saints and Harlequins in March on BT Sport’s Showcase Freeview TV channel. The fixture will be broadcast from Franklin’s Gardens from 3pm on Easter Sunday 27 March.

Simon Green, head of BT Sport, said: “Freeview viewers will once again be able to see UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League matches with some of the best players in the world on show. We are also delighted to broadcast Aviva Premiership Rugby on BT Sport Showcase. All are heading towards the end of the season and are fighting it out with the hope of lifting silverware at the end of the season.

It’s great to be able to give Freeview viewers the opportunity to experience BT Sport’s exclusively live coverage on BT Sport Showcase.”

BT Sport is the only place to watch all of the 351 exclusively live UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League matches. At least 12 UEFA Champions League matches and 14 UEFA Europa League ties will also be shown live on BT Sport Showcase during the season.

Additionally BT Sport channels broadcast 69 Aviva Premiership Rugby games exclusively across the season.

  1. BT sport could have drummed up a lot of hype (and goodwill) for themselves by showing Liverpool v ManU on BT Showcase this Thursday. An opportunity missed through small mindedness.
Sod them then, streaming it shall be.

    1. I don’t know why but I expected the first leg of Liverpool v man united to be shown free too. Could well be that we don’t see a British team until a final… that’s if any get through…
