Hello all – check out my review of Racing UK on You Tube! To subscribe visit http://www.racinguk.com – it’s a great channel. As well as coverage on the channel itself, you get a regular magazine delivered to your door, there’s also great promotional days where you can attend race meetings heavily discounted – well worth a look.
Racing UK is uniquely owned by 34 shareholders – The racecourses (the shareholders – as listed on Wikipedia) are: Aintree, Ascot, Ayr, Bangor, Beverley, Carlisle, Cartmel, Catterick Bridge, Cheltenham, Chester, Epsom Downs, Exeter, Goodwood, Hamilton Park, Haydock Park, Huntingdon, Kelso, Kempton Park, Ludlow, Market Rasen, Musselburgh, Newbury, Newmarket, Nottingham, Perth, Pontefract, Redcar, Salisbury, Sandown Park, Thirsk, Warwick, Wetherby, Wincanton and York. So, if there’s race meetings at these locations, you’ll find them on Racing UK. At the Races is a rival to Racing UK, but only has coverage from 24 locations.
Taking this weekend as an example – there was seven hours of live racing on Friday. Racing UK were live at 1.30pm from Nottingham and Newbury before heading straight over to Newmarket and Catterick for their evening cards.
Channel 4 had live racing coverage betwee 2pm and 4:30pm – but Racing UK were back in action on Saturday at 12:30pm with ‘Mark Your Card’, providing some pointers for the day’s racing from Market Rasen, Newbury and Newmarket. They also headed stateside on Saturday with coverage of the Arlington Million meeting featuring the 34th running of the Arlington Million and the American St. Leger.
On Sunday there’s action from both sides of the Channel with live racing from Pontefract and Deauville, including the Group 1 Prix Jaques le Marois, in which Galileo Gold is set to race.
Horse Racing will be moving from Channel 4 to ITV in January – but in this uncertain period of transition, Racing UK will remain static – with all-year round coverage from racecourses across the UK, and you don’t have to wait till Saturday to get your racing fix, there’s coverage all through the week.
