Fairport Convention are soon to celebrate their 50th Anniversary, and whilst over this time the groups line up has changed on numerous occasions, twenty three to be precise, it still boasts one of it’s founding members as part of the group today. Since 1967 many folk luminaries have made their name with the group and subsequently gone onto bigger things within folk circles, Sandy Denny and Richard Thompson to name but two. One of the other feats this band has achieved is to have had its very own music festival run annually and successfully since 1979.

Recorded in 1990 the eight tracks on this album are very traditional folk at its best, however should you not be a fan of folk music and just enjoy good music you’re certain to enjoy this. Contained within are harmonious vocals, they are one of few bands to have a violin, mandolin and bouzouki amongst the instruments regularly played. All songs are originals with the exception of ‘From a Distance’ made famous by Bette Midler, however subsequently recorded on their next studio album. Thoroughly worth listening to, all the tunes instantly pull you in, to ensure you will revisit this album time and time again.
